Marketing Solutions Interview - Bryan Ong:

Our interview for today, is with Bryan Zhung Zhe Ong, Founder of the Marketing Journal. Bryan is a marketing and blogger enthusiast, and is from Australia.

1) Hello Bryan, thanks for taking the time to share your views with us today. Please introduce yourself and tell us about "The Marketing Journal".

I am currently working as a search marketing account manager at www.e-channel.com.au and I have great interest in all forms of marketing. Marketing Journal is my personal hobby blog which I started about 4 years ago and the purpose of this blog is to reflect my personal marketing experience as well as knowledge.

2) Some of your hobbies consist of online advertising and blogging. Is there anything that you would like to say to your fellow bloggers out there?

Hmmm, I think one thing I can say is try to keep the blog content as original as possible as I know sometimes it is hard to find the creative juice to write and maintain the blog

3) I was reading one of your blogs about Google Local Business Listings vs SEO, where you mentioned that this method was quicker and easier than Search Engine Optimization.

Could you elaborate a bit on this, Bryan, and tell us what your actual results were for local business listings in comparison to SEO?

SEO is an extremely long process in getting front page listings as you have to wait for Pagerank, links update etc. This process can take at least 6 months before you see any results.

Google local business listings on the other hand is a much quicker process where you can get to the top almost instantaneously. My actual results.

I got on front page listings for many competitive keywords in almost a day or so which can take me months, years to achieve these front page results.

4) Getting a website listed in the Search Engine Results Pages is probably the best way to attract organic traffic to your site.

Do you think that PPC campaigns impact brand awareness better than what search engine marketing does? And if so, why?

To a certain extent yes, as you can customise your message and ad text content for your PPC campaigns whereas you can't really do that with SEO.

5) Most webmasters and marketers claim that although Google PR plays a significant role in making your website successful, that there are more important things to focus on.

My personal opinion is that building keyword optimized content and inbound links are the key to being successful on the web, and that the PR will naturally reflect your efforts in that regard.

What are your thoughts about the Google Page Rank? Do you agree that this shouldn't be your main priority in getting an internet business established?

I agree with you as well. Content and links are the 2 most important factors. I have seen sites with much lower pagerank but better content and links ranking higher than higher PR sites

6) Well, Bryan, it's been great having you here with us this morning. Before we go, are there any tips or advice you'd like to pass along to our readers?

Keep writing great content, be active online and engaged with as many online peers as possible and you will see your site grow.

Bryan has left us with some great stuff to help us in our marketing endeavors. Thanks again, Bryan, for being us us here today.

Happy Marketing!
