Marketing Solutions Interview-Michael Fleischner:

Today we have the privilege of talking with an Internet Marketing Expert and Search Engine Optimization Specialist, Michael Fleischner; Founder of "The Marketing Blog" and "MarketingScoop".

Michael is a renowned expert in his field, and has over 13 years of marketing experience.

1.) Hi Michael, thank you for spending some time with us today. Please take a moment to introduce yourself and tell us about "The Marketing Blog", and the services that you offer.

Thank you. The Marketing Blog was started a number of years ago after I launched MarketingScoop.com. The purpose of MarketingScoop was to provide free resources to anyone interested in marketing.

I quickly received a flood of questions from visitors looking for marketing advice. From those discussions, The Marketing Blog was born. It provided a forum for all of us, who are involved in marketing to discuss current events on a regular basis and dialog about using what we know to improve the impact of marketing.

2) Given your extensive background in marketing, Michael, when did this passion become more than just a hobby for you?

It all started for me in earnest in 2003 when I launched my first website.

I started to learn so much more about marketing that I was hooked. Via the web, I was able to get instant feedback - total nirvanna for any true marketer. Once I got a taste of doing business online, I quickly turned my attention to web site development and affiliate promotions.

Earning a living online without necessarily owning a product or having to fulfill an order is priceless. I launched my first web product The Webmaster's Book of Secrets: Improve Search Engine Ranking in 2007and learned how to be both the product developer and marketer.

This taught me even more about creating quality products and marketing them effectively.

3) What kind of monetization techniques should a webmaster or marketer use, who are just getting started and don't have much traffic yet?

If you're launching a blog and don't have a lot of traffic, there are only a couple of ways to generate revenue.

The key to making money online is to generate traffic and build a list. If you want to make money without a large base, I recommend selling affiliate products through an autoresponder. The way it works is pretty simple.

Put a free download on your website or blog. When an individual downloads the PDF, lessons, etc., use an autoresponder to send follow up emails with value-added information.

Over time, begin to introduce product recommendations into your emails. These should be affiliate products that are appropriate for your target audience. I recommend using Clickbank products with a high gravity and sales commission about $20.

4) I was intrigued about one of your blogs that talked about Lead Scoring and Demand Generation. Can these models that match prospects with products actually work for the little guy who hasn't much of a database?

Lead scoring is a great concept and something that I'm learning more about. I think for the small player lead scoring provides less value but at the same time is a mindset you should adopt.

Most specifically, ask yourself what type of visitor is your best prospect? What is the commonality between all or most of my customers?

Once you identify the type of visitor who converts to a buyer more frequently than others, you've found marketing success - reallocate your spend to attract more visitors with that profile. That's the basis of lead scoring and demand generation.

5) Let's talk a bit more about your services, Michael. Given the intense competition that's popping up everywhere, what can you offer to our readers?

My blog, websites, and consulting services offer real world marketing experience. I'm a man of few words. In fact, my book, SEO Made Simple: Strategies for Dominating the World's Largest Search Engine is only 106 pages.

Why?

Because I cut away about 4 years of mis information and unnecessary stuff and just published what actually works. I think if more people did this, customers would be more satisfied and grateful for not wasting anyones time.

6) Michael, thanks again for your time. For the last question, I would like to know if there's any kind of advice or tips that you would like to share with us?

One of the best tips I received about marketing, blogging, and doing business online is this... don't assume anything, TEST everything!

Michael just gave us some fantastic information here, and I hope that you are able to incorporate some of this strategy into developing your own marketing solutions.

Thanks a million to Michael for taking the time to be with us here today, and to provide some insightful answers to our questions.

Success To Us All
